NOTE: If you have purchased a flex-pass, you are also welcome to attend the Framing Classes on Monday and Thursday evenings for a puppy tune-up. Check class schedules for times and locations


2010 Advanced Flex Pass Schedule and Locations
 
Classes are at 10:30 AM Saturdays & 8:00 PM MONDAY
Every two weeks until the end of March, then we move outdoors and Monday classes change to Tuesday at 6:30 pm

  • Until the end of March, we will meet at the parking lot of 55 Victoria Rd.  If the weather is inclement, we will work in the warm, dry basement.  Otherwise, be prepared to work with your dog in the downtown and waterfront area of Nanaimo.
At each location we will work with the dogs for approx. 10 minutes at the meeting place before proceeding on a walk/play route. Please be on time. Bring your long rope as well as 6 foot leash.
 
These classes are intended to increase your dog’s attention span while in distracting locations. We will also be teaching handlers about safety, how to use natural surrounding for fun games, path etiquette, and relaxation exercises. The dogs will be exposed to real life situations and learn to ignore things that may cause them to react inappropriately.

We work the dogs off-leash or on long lines to prepare them to respond instantly.  GET YOUR DOG READY TO HAVE FUN WITHOUT CAUSING DISTRESS TO OTHERS IN OUR NINE NEW OFF LEASH PARKS. REGISTER NOW!

In the event of inclement weather we will conduct classes indoors at 55 Victoria Rd. We will introduce some basic agility, games and tricks when indoors.
 
 

BASIC TRAINING FOR HANDLERS & DOGS OF ALL AGES

Part 1 -1st month Class 1 - 6 Foundations
Foundations Family Dog Obedience Starts with 1 ½ hour Orientation session (no dogs) from 6:30 pm (Check calendars for dates). This is a demonstration of techniques and theory on how dog's learn and why we teach the techniques we do. We deal with problem behavior questions, equipment, good games, bad games, housetraining,motivators and how to build confidence in your dog and you.  You will learn how to get your  dog conditioned to respond to you EVERY TIME.(This class is for Beginners and Intermediate students who have not attended any of Miss Behaviors' Classes.)

Part 2 -2nd month Classes 7 - 12 Framing
 
Framing Family Dog Obedience is a refresher of the walking exercise, sit, down, stay and come commands - building up distractions and time, working in the real world to "proof" your dog on all the commands. We perform "meet and greet" exercises to ensure your dog minds his manners when greeting strange dogs and people. We work at the waterfront for two of these lessons, to expose your dogs to all sizes and shapes of people and dogs, skateboards, bikes, seaplanes, boats, scooters, canes - things they will be seeing in real life walks with you.


Pre-registration including payment is required in order to confirm your spot in class. Class size is limited to 12 dogs and classes fill up fast.
Note: If you are unable to attend all group classes, you will be given the equivalent dollar value and course content in private lessons. No cash refunds.

NOTE:  When you sign up for a FOUNDATION CLASS, you will attend the FRAMING CLASS in the following month.  One exception:  Because people are so busy in December we suspend classes until January, so November Foundation registrants will get a month to practice and then come back in January for Framing. Also, we can be flexible if you have holidays planned or other activity.  You may choose to take a month between classes at any time.

e.g.  October Foundation - starts at 6:00 pm and then you would attend November Framing - moving to 7:00 pm start.
